Diamond Mayor faces a misdemeanor charge.

Diamond Mayor Brenda Schmitt faces a misdemeanor assault charge after an exchange with a constituent who was using her cell phone to make a video.

She will face a January 15th arraignment scheduled in Newton County Circuit Court.

According to reports, Schmitt placed her hand on the alleged victim and attempted to knock her phone out of her hand.

Ms. Schmitt reportedly pulled her hair and hit her in an effort to get her cell phone and stop her from filming.
