Man from Joplin to spend 10 years in prison after sexual abuse of child
The charges are based on accusations from 2018 and 2019
A man from Joplin will spend 10 years in prison after he accepted a guilty plea of sexually abusing a girl in 2018.
42-year-old Joseph Garrett pleaded guilty Monday to a count of second-degree child molestation in Newton County Circuit Court.
Garrett’s charge stems from accusations he sexually abused a girl in December of 2018 when she was 9 years old and a second time in August 2019 when she was 10.
The charges originated from disclosures that the girl made forensic interviews at the Children’s Center in Joplin in December 2018 and December 2019.
