Golden City man charged with possessing bomb

A man from Golden City, Missouri, has been charged for having an explosive in his vehicle.

52-year-old Terry Don Mitchell was pulled over Tuesday afternoon in Golden City for having expired tags.

During the traffic stop, Mitchell told the Barton County Deputy about the device in his middle console.

The suspicious device was wrapped in black electrical tape and Mitchell confirmed to the deputy that it was a bomb.

Authorities called the Springfield Bomb Squad and they rendered the device safe.

Mitchell charged with:

  • Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair Or Sale Of Illegal Weapon
  • Driving While Revoked/Suspended
  • Owner Operating Motor Vehicle without Maintaining Financial Responsibility
  • Failure To Register Motor Vehicle
