Panelists picked to recommend changes to K-12 school funding model

The governor is appointing task force members who are to recommend changes to Missouri’s K-12 school funding model, which has been around nearly 20 years.

The 16-member group represents urban and rural, traditional and nontraditional education, academia and industry.

Governor Mike Kehoe says the state needs a “modernized funding model that rewards outcomes, encourages innovation, and ensures fairness for all Missouri students.”

The governor says the panel will operate under core guiding principles that promote equal access for students, local flexibility, performance accountability, and long-term funding sustainability.

The group is charged with providing a final report to the governor by December of 2026.
