Vision Carthage completes restoration of large mural. Ribbon-cutting scheduledm

Carthage, MO – Vision Carthage is pleased to announce the completed restoration of a large mural downtown.
To celebrate this milestone, a ribbon-cutting will be held in coordination with the Carthage Chamber of Commerce at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the mural site which is located at the corner of Lyon and 4 Street on the side of the Flanigan, Lasley & Moore building.
The “Municipal Park” mural was originally painted by John Biggs in 2006. The third in a set of murals painted around the square, this scene depicts the old dance pavilion from 1938 which now occupies the space housing the roller rink in Municipal Park.
Vision Carthage commissioned local artist Cheryl Church to bring color back into this faded artwork.
“By bringing back these ‘ghost’ murals, we’re creating excitement for the entire community,” stated Sally Stuart, Co Director of Vision Carthage. “Not only do longtime locals love to see this mural brought back to life, but tourists will appreciate the facelift to this popular entrance onto the square.”
Vision Carthage will continue to work with its Design Committee to keep momentum going on restoring faded murals and signs. To learn more about upcoming projects, visit VisionCarthage.org.
