Pittsburg 5th grader passes away after being hit by car

A young boy from Pittsburg has passed away from his injuries after he was hit by a car last week.

Jordan Baldwin died at a local hospital Monday.

“Dear Dragon Families,

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our students, Jordan Baldwin, a 5th grader at Westside. Jordan was involved in an accident last week and succumbed to injuries yesterday, May 26, 2025. Our hearts go out to Jordan’s family, friends, classmates, and teachers during this difficult time.

Jordan was a cherished and important member of our school family, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We understand that this news may be difficult for many members of our community, particularly students and staff who were close to Jordan. Counseling and support will be available at Westside starting today. We encourage students and families to come to the school if they need support during this time. If there are conflicts with transportation for a student that would like to come to the school, please call Westside at (620) 235-3170.

As we come together to grieve, we ask for your compassion, sensitivity, and support for the family. We also kindly ask that their privacy be respected as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”
