Former Quapaw Chairman speaks out about choosing to step down

Effective April 15, Chairman Joseph T. Byrd resigned from the Quapaw National Business Committee during the monthly Business Committee meeting.

Former Chairman Byrd had said in a statement, “My time as Chairman of Quapaw Nation has concluded. It has been an immense honor serving the needs of the Quapaw people and the community through the Covid pandemic, record inflation, and historic change these last few years. Thanks to the many people who put me in this position of privilege. I wish the best for Quapaw Nation as it continues to move forward.”

The Nation it self commented saying, “We will continue to strengthen the Quapaw nation through care of one another and responsible leadership as our nation transitions to the next chapter.

The Quapaw Nation Election Committee will be providing announcements and dates to fill the vacant position in coming Days on the Quapaw Nation website and official nation social media.”
