Jaime Hund talks Color the Community Day

Do you have an artistic flair? Do you want to leave your mark on the community? Here’s your chance. Leadership Joplin is asking community members to contribute to the Color the Community Day event held in partnership with Creative Audio and several local artists.
Color the Community is scheduled from 11a-3p on Saturday, May 31st at Creative Audio at 629 S Main St in Joplin.
“Everybody needs a little color in their life, but we’re actually doing a mural,” Leadership Joplin’s Jaime Hund. “So, we have partnered with creative audio at 7th and Main as well as some local artists to create a mural on the back of their wall.”
“Here’s the cool thing, though, is the community gets to help. So, we’re leaving a little, little area where on May 31, from 11 to 3, you can come in and paint your own little spot on the mural.”
Color the Community is a family-friendly event open to all ages and skill levels, encouraging community members to leave their mark on the mural and enjoy live music, food trucks and more fun.
Leadership Joplin, a program by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation and backed by local businesses, aims to identify, develop, and inspire future community leaders. Now in its 41st year, with over 1,077 graduates, this engaging program introduces participants to Joplin’s community, its challenges, and a nine-session curriculum. It offers a strategic framework to sharpen leadership skills, foster dialogue on key issues, and analyze case studies, aligning with the Chamber’s goals. Those passionate about community leadership and eager to expand their knowledge are encouraged to apply.
“Call the chamber directly, ask for Stephanie McGrew,” Hund said. “She can get you all set up for next year’s class. You can go on to the Joplin Area Chambers website.
“There’s a lot of us. And the thing is, we’re now almost family. We’ve built relationships within our class.”
