Parsons traffic stop leads to discovery of meth, paraphernalia and more

A traffic stop in Parsons, Kansas on the evening of May 20, 2025, led to the discovery of illegal drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, and a probation search of a residence, further uncovering additional narcotics-related evidence.

At approximately 8:38 PM, Sergeant Christian Smith initiated a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Broadway after observing a gold 1999 Chevrolet Silverado with illegal window tint.

The driver, identified as Travis Wilson, is a well- known and registered drug offender and known to be on probation through Labette County, was accompanied by passenger Sonya Demoss-Harrison.

During the stop, Corporal Rory Johnson observed a glass pipe, commonly associated with methamphetamine use, seen in plain view within the vehicle. A subsequent search yielded additional items including multiple glass pipes with crystalline residue, medicine bottle containing a white substance, drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution and a machete located in the truck bed.

Wilson admitted some responsibility for the items and was placed into custody. Due to his probation status, a search of Wilson’s listed residence on Appleton was conducted. Parsons officers, accompanied by Detective Brice Dickens, executed the search, locating additional paraphernalia, digital scale with residue and dozens of clean plastic baggies believed to be used in distribution.

All suspected narcotics and paraphernalia have been secured and will be submitted to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) Laboratory for formal analysis. Wilson was booked into the Parsons Police Department without incident.

Travis Wilson is a long-time repeat offender who was arrested twice in one month for narcotics in April of 2023, he has since been in and out of jail. Wilson is a prime example of a broken system that refuses to hold criminals accountable for their actions and continuously jeopardizes the community safety by allowing drug dealers to get minimal sentences for crime no matter how many times they commit them.

The following charges have been requested and sent to Labette County Attorney’s Office for official charging; Distribution of Certain Stimulants, Possession of Narcotics, two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, No Liability Insurance and Illegal Window Tint.

This continues to be an on-going investigation, and citizens are encouraged to “See It, Hear It, Report It.” All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
